The best places to watch the sunset on Ibiza

October 3, 2023

Watching the sunset is a favorite among both visitors and residents of Ibiza. On this idyllic island there are a nearly infinite number of spots to enjoy an unforgettable sunset, so we’re going to recommend some of the best places to watch the sun set on Ibiza. From the outset, obviously, you have to keep in mind that the best views for enjoying the spectacle at sundown will be on the western and northern coasts of Ibiza, although you should keep in mind that the path of the sun varies depending on the time of year.

Cala D’hort: this small cove is one of the most famous on the island for its spectacular views of the alluring island of Es Vedrá. Watch the sun set on the beach, from the nearby Savinar Tower or, for a unique experience, from what is known as the “viewpoint of Atlantis”, located a little before you arrive at the beach, on the left-hand side of the road.

Cala Comte: From this stunning beach, one of the most popular on Ibiza, you can observe a spectacular panoramic view of the sunset with the islets of Sa Conillera and S’ S’espartar in the background. On the left-hand side you’ll find an inlet called Raco d’ en Xic with a quiet beach bar called Cala Escondida where you’ll often find musicians jamming. In the central zone of the island, you also have the famous Sunset Ashram, perfect for a sunset with a livelier atmosphere.

Punta Galera: This small rocky cove close to San Antonio is one of the most famous among the residents of the island for its tranquility and crystal-clear waters, which are ideal for snorkelling. Here you can enjoy a beautiful sunset in a peaceful place.

Sa Penya Esbarrada, also commonly known as “the gates of heaven” because of the restaurant which is located on this small cliff, is one of the most special places to enjoy one of the best sunsets. In addition, you can take advantage of the opportunity to have dinner…

Cap des Falcó: a privileged location situated in the Las Salinas nature reserve, it’s perfect for enjoying the sunset in winter, as the sun sets over the sea during those months. Nearby you also have salt marshes, which form an image of unsurpassed beauty when the sun sets over them.

Benirras: The most famous sunset in the northern part of the island. In this beautiful cove surrounded with pine trees and imbued with a certain hippy essence, you can take in a sunset of singular beauty as the sun slips behind the islet Es Cap Bernat while drums play in the background making this magical moment even more striking.

If you want a more lively sunset scene, another option that comes highly recommended is to go for a cocktail while enjoying music DJed at any of the numerous bars you’ll find along the famous Sunset Strip of San Antonio, including especially famous places like Café Mambo or Café del Mar.
