What should I see during my 1-day stay on Ibiza?
It is important that you rent a car or a moped for travelling around, so you may make the most of your time. Due to the island’s size, it is perfectly feasible to cover its entire perimeter in one day, but you will have to choose your locations wisely, as obviously it will be impossible to visit each and every one of its 50 calas (bay beaches) and beaches.
Our suggestion is to start by having breakfast at Marina Botafoch while enjoying the beautiful views of the port and Dalt Vila in bars such as Calma or Capuccino. After gathering your strength, visit the beaches at Salinas and Es Cavallet; it’s a good idea to get there as early as possible to be able to secure a parking spot. These are among Ibiza’s most beautiful beaches, but also among the most popular, which means first thing in the morning is the perfect time to see them. Relax and enjoy their beautiful waters, and if you fancy adding a bit of culture to your morning, come and visit La Nave Salinas, which is an impressive cultural venue – and it’s free to get in.
After that, carry on to Sa Caleta, Cala Jondal or Cala d’Hort to have a tasty rice dish or some fresh fish for lunch by the sea. Cala d’Hort also features unbeatable views of the famous Es Vedrà islet. After lunch, you could go for a coffee at the picturesque village of Sant Josep or Es Cubells, which is perched on a small cliff by the sea and offers a beautiful perspective.
Carrying on with our 1 day tour of Ibiza, make the most of the afternoon by getting to know the area’s wonderful beaches. Among the most famous are Cala Bassa, Cala Tarida, Cala Molí, Cala Vadella, Cala Carbó and Cala Comte, all of which are stunning. Have a meander, but make sure you go to Cala Comte to see an unforgettable sunset overlooking the sea with the islet of sa Conillera as a backdrop. Another option for watching the sunset is dropping by the famous “Sunset Strip” in San Antonio, where you may enjoy it while listening to famous international DJs at Café del Mar or Café Mambo.
For dinner, you may as well stay in the area, so head over to the charming village of San Agustín to eat at the Can Berri Vell restaurant, or perhaps take the opportunity of getting to know the centre and north of the island better. In San Rafael there are a number of lively restaurants like Can Pilot or El Coto, in San Juan you will find veggie restaurant Sabores Naturales or Giri Café, in San Lorenzo, Paloma restaurant or the nearby Agroturismo Atzaró, and in Santa Gertrudis, practically the entire village is a pleasant, effervescent terrace bustling with tempting options.
After dinner, if you still want to make the most of your time on the island, a must is to take a walk around the romantic streets of Dalt Vila, Ibiza’s historical centre and UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is also a perfect opportunity for shopping, both in Dalt Vila and in La Marina, near the port. After having something to drink in Plaza del Parque, which is in the centre and serves as usual meeting point for the locals, an unavoidable option is to head over to one of the island’s famous clubs: Pacha, Amnesia, Privilege, Hï, Edén or Es Paradís. Choose the one that is more to your taste and prepare to enjoy the unique atmosphere that has made Ibiza famous worldwide.
