Las Salinas

Long sandy beach with clear water and shallow depth, located in the natural surroundings of Las Salinas, a protected area. It is also a great attraction for young tourists, thanks to the restaurants and clubs with music that can be found along the beach. The area surrounding the beach is a protected conservation of the dunes and is enabled with paths to stroll to the old watchtower at the southernmost tip of the island.

LOCATION: south of the island, near the airport.

SIZE: 1.5 kilometers long, 25-30 meters wide.

GETTING THERE: By car, bike or bus from Ibiza (10 km) or Playa d’en Bossa (6 km)

DISTANCE: 7.6 km Airport, 7.5 km to Ibiza, 18 km from San Jose.

The Natural Park of Las Salinas, where the beach is situated, is in area that lies between southern Ibiza and northern Formentera, the natural park also includes the sea channel that separates both islands. It encompasses 2,838.44 hectares of land and some 9,012 hectares of water.

The sea represents 75% of the park´s total area, characterized by the ecological value of its underwater meadows of Posidonia oceanica. This underwater plant, which can only be found in the Mediterranean, helps to maintain communities of fish and other underwater organisms. At the same time it also oxygenates the water, whilst protecting beaches from wave erosion and conserving the dune systems. The Natural Park had been declared an Item of World Heritage by the UNESCO.

210 different species of birds have been registered in the park. Particularly important are the populations of water birds, including flamingos.

It is very important to preserve and protect especially this area, due to its great value.
